MicroArt Studio Resin Bases

Thought I'd put up some pictures of the MicroArt Studio bases that my friend acquired for me at Salute. They are very crisp and I'm looking forward to painting them.

I have three chariot sized models To fit on the 50mm x 100mm chariot base, a Gentleman's Coach, an Omnibus and a Black Moriah.

I have bought 2 packs of the 30mm Cobblestone, 1 pack of the Mosiac and 2 packs of the Arcane bases to add to the existing Cobblestone bases from Westwind.

Pulp Terrain Project

For the last ten years my brother has been heavily involved in his cars, he owns a couple of Mopars, recently however I have reignited his passion for Gaming with the Pulp Alley rules. He regularly ran Cthulhu RPG sessions and enjoys the work of H. P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard.

I got talking him to him about the genre as several of the local war games club members had been championing the cause. I discussed with him some ideas for creating a new pulp Wargaming table, a 4' x 4' playing area. A couple days later I received an email, followed by a. Trawl of text messages as he had gone and designed a new board, incorporating sewers. What follows is the journey he and I, his able assistant, are undertaking.

The base boards are made from 6mm MDF, with the sides being 18mm MDF.The height of the boards is 2". This is a British project so be advised measurements will come in both Imperial and Metric.

The plan is to countersink magnets to the top and sides of the boards. This way they should lock together reducing the gaps which appear on the gaming surface. The other cool thing is that the top boards will have magnets so that terrain tiles will be interchangeable, thus being able to create different locations.

Clearing the Cobwebs

It has been quite some time since I last posted anything on this blog site. I have been very busy with lots of other things. However, one of my fellow gamers has been badgering me to paint my Empire of the Dead miniatures for quite some time.

I dug them out of the lead pile and have begun to paint them. I must say I have been really impressed with the quality of the sculpts. The detail is great and the miniatures are enjoyable to paint.

In preparation for painting the rest of the models I have ordered in some of the bases from MicroArt Studios. The quality of their sculpted bases is excellent. I will have enough to complete the carriages and the rest of the Kickstarter miniatures I ordered back in the mists of time.

I also intend to use this site for some Pulp adventures we are playing at the club and I will also being hoping to build some small armies for the Sudan campaign of the 1880's and 1890's.

As soon as I have the bases from MicroArt Studios I'll post some pictures of the W.I.P. Until then, I'll have a glass of Sherry old boy!

Requiem Kickstarter Model Review - The Introduction

A brown box was waiting for me when I arrived home this evening! My order from Westwind has finally arrived and my first impressions are...I am not disappointed. The miniatures were well protected inside the box with plenty of bubble wrap. The vehicles  had their own little pieces of bubble wrap so as to avoid chipping whilst in transit.

The first models I will be reviewing will be Set 1 - The London Bobbies. I have been looking for a quite some time for a set of Victorian police miniatures and the Westwind models are excellent. Over the next week or so I will give an objective review of all the models I have purchased and after that I will let folk know how I get on with building and painting the miniatures.

Read all about it in the next blog post.
